About FOF

Feet of Fire

Feet of Fire! is a child-centered studio located on the Eastern Shore of Delmarva in Salisbury, MD. Shaun Updike is the head instructor and owner, and she has encouraged an environment of fun, growth and integrity for young girls and boy alike. We welcome your children and will teach them as much about the world of dance as they are willing to learn!

The History

Feet of Fire! began in 2006 as the newcomer, but premiere, dance facility on the Delmarva Peninsula. Through our thirteen years of operation, we have grown exponentially and now enjoy the most state-of-the-art dance facility in the region. Our dancers come from all ages, and our choreography is winning us prizes and awards from all over the United States. We remain a loyal part to our Salisbury, Maryland community and are active participants in the majority of the local festivals.

Miss Jensen Byers is also completing her second year as an FOF faculty member. Her sweet, kind disposition makes her a favorite with all our younger dancers.

Miss Camryn Coady has been with Feet of Fire for over a decade. As a member of the Senior Elite competition team, Miss Camryn traveled up and down the East Coast bringing home numerous awards & honors for her team.

Miss Rylee has also been at FOF her entire life. She has helped FOF bring home numerous titles during her days as an FOF competitive dancer and has performed up and down the East Coast showcasing her talent.

  • Kendal, 5, started dancing at FoF in June of 2013. She was excited yet very shy at first. But, with Ms. Shaun and the other teachers' patience and encouragement, she opened up very quickly. Her love and passion for dance grew very fast.

Youth Hip-Hop (Ages 6-8)
This is one of our most popular classes! Dancers are encouraged to let their bodies be free and feel the music while learning some of today’s hottest, age-appropriate dance moves.

Junior Hip-Hop (Ages 9 – 11)
Junior Hip-Hop is based on the same philosophy as Youth Hip-Hop but with more advanced choreography.

Teen Hip-Hop (Ages 12 & up)
This class offers the same philosophy as Youth and Junior Hip-Hop but with even more advanced choreography.

Intermediate Lyrical
In this class dancers move out of the world of classical ballet and into the very popular style of lyrical. Dancers learn to tell a story through elegant body placement and more technical dance technique while still maintaining the foundation of classical ballet.

Primary Jazz (Ages 5 – 6)
This class is all about FUN! Dancers begin to learn the basics of jazz dancing. The importance of stage presence and facial are also introduced at this level along with flexibility and more advanced coordination.

Elementary Jazz (Ages 6 – 8)
Still based around fun, this class focuses on body isolations, flexibility, upbeat & contemporary choreography, and the latest music & dance moves.

Intermediate Jazz (Ages 9 – 11)
Dancers learn more advanced Jazz technique and choreography.

Teen Jazz (Ages 12+)
Dancers work on flexibility, technique, isolations, and coordination.

This class is the next step after completing our “Teeny-Bop” level. Dancers continue to add on to their ballet and tap technique.

In this class dancers continue to add more advanced ballet and tap technique to their growing repertoire. They also learn how to count music and about proper body placement.
